133: The number of Kamloops drivers caught on their phone last week

Don't do what this guy is doing.

Kamloops Mounties are warning local drivers to be smart and put their phone down while driving.

Last week, on Sept. 3 and 6, police issued 133 tickets to people caught using an electronic device while behind the wheel.

Not only that, another 102 tickets were issued for failing to use a seatbelt.

"These numbers are high," says Cpl. Jodi Shelkie in a press release. "Motorists need to put down their phone and buckle up. It's not just a matter of having to pay a fine if you're caught offending, it could be a matter of life and death."

RCMP will be out again this month enforcing the law.
