The road is now open to single-lane alternating traffic.
"Expect delays due to congestion," reads a tweet from Drive B.C.
Anyone headed east of Sicamous right now may want to look at detours.
Drive B.C. is reporting that an accident on Highway 1, 24 kilometres west of Revelstoke near Griffin Lake, has shut down the highway in both directions. Traffic is backed up next to Griffin Lake, which neighbours the Three Valley Gap area.
According to the Drive B.C. alert, the closure is due to a vehicle incident and was reported just before 10 a.m. An assessment is in progress and an update is expected at 11:30 a.m.
