A wildfire that started Monday afternoon (May 14) in Barnhartvale is now contained.

Marla Catherall, a communications assistant with the Kamloops Fire Centre, says the blaze at Campbell Creek Road is currently at just over a hectare.

"The status is under control, which means the fire has received sufficient suppression action to ensure no further spread."

Twenty-six crew members responded yesterday and worked late into the evening. Today, Catherall says there are 19 firefighters on scene mopping up and doing patrols.

"It's suspected to be human-caused," she adds. "But it's still under investigation."

No structures or homes are under threat.

And just a reminder, Category 2 and 3 fire bans take effect at noon today. For more information, click HERE.
