The annual dog licence renewal process is changing as the city adds an online option.

Dog owners, who are required to register their dogs and have a licence for them in Kamloops, can do the deed through the city's app or website now, according to a press release.

Renewal reminders are currently in the mail, and include instructions about how to create an online account and pay using credit cards. For new licensees, a registration needs to be filled out first before an account number is given.

If the digital world isn't your thing, everything can be handled at city hall or at the Bylaw Services Centre at 1303 Mission Flats Rd. As of Jan. 1, you won't be able to buy licences at stores.

Once payment is received, new dog tags will be mailed out. All licence renewals are due Jan. 31.
