Yesterday's crash near Juniper Beach between Kamloops and Cache Creek has resulted in one death.

RCMP are reporting a 23-year-old woman from the Cariboo-Chilcotin area died after a two-vehicle head-on collision on Highway 1 about 15 km east of Cache Creek. The collision happened around 3 p.m.

In a press release, Mounties state the woman was the driver of the westbound vehicle. For unknown reasons, her vehicle crossed the centre line and collided head-on with an eastbound pickup truck.

The other driver sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

They were the only two people involved in the incident.

Police are still investigating the collision and nothing has been ruled out, according to the press release.

The incident shut down part of Highway 1 for a couple of hours as police investigated and cleaned up the scene.
