The first phase of the Victoria Street West construction project will be opening to vehicle traffic any day now, according to the latest update from the City of Kamloops.
In a news release issued today (Aug. 12), city staff say "mid-August" is when locals can expect to see cars moving below the British Columbia Lottery Corporation headquarters. The top lift of asphalt was laid down Aug. 7 and line painting was completed on Aug. 9.
Meanwhile, the sidewalk on the south side of Seymour Street West is scheduled to be poured this week.
The release also notes the hydro box installation continues just east of Mustard Seed, and "to facilitate work, the one-way access from McIntosh Street to Seymour Street West continues to be closed."
"At the same time, Stage 2 (the south side of Victoria Street West between Mustard Seed any Boomers Automotive) Silva Cell installations and third-party utility work continues, while Stage 4 (Sun Life Financial west to the Overlanders Bridge) sanitary work continues at night. "
