Freeze emerges victorious from 'Battle of Champions' in Calgary

Freeze Athletics hit the trifecta this past weekend, finishing with a gold, silver and bronze in international competition at the "Battle of Champions" in Calgary.

Arctic Chill, the senior level 4 team, finished first place in their division, finishing with a final score of 95.36. Shiver, the junior level 3 team, notched a final score of 94.02 for a second-place finish and Blizzard, the junior level 2 team, had a 93.59 to come third.

"To have all of our teams finish top three in their respective divisions at a huge international competition is an amazing result for our program and for Kamloops," says Keri Lewis, co-owner of Interior Freeze Athletics.

The big weekend comes on the heels of a strong performance at the Snowflake Cheer Championships in Richmond on Jan. 19. Five Freeze teams finished first in their respective divisions, while Snowstorm, the junior level 1 team, came second.

Kamloops will host the B.C. Provincial Cheerleading Championships on April 13 at the Tournament Capital Centre.
