The group behind Kamloops Public Market, an idea still being conceptualized, is holding a session for those interested in sharing ideas about what the market could actually be.
The event, being dubbed a "blue sky" session, will be for like-minded folks who want to share their vision with the group lobbying for the potential market, says group member Daphane Nelson in an email.
It's not so much an open house as it is a constructive dialogue about how they'd like to proceed.
The event will be downtown at the Noble Pig pub on Sunday, June 24, starting at 1 p.m. It's free to attend, but registration is requested (click HERE).
At the same time, the group has launched some digital media for the first time, to support the idea, including a website, Twitter account and Facebook page. The website shares some early designs that the group have for the space.
"This proposal uses no other land beyond the parking lot and retains the Heritage House and Lawn Bowling faciliites," the website states. "The proposal includes an underground parkade of one or two levels underneath the ground-level market building."
It adds that the group aims to make the project a co-operative with 1,000 members.
"The vision plan is a starting point, a work in progress that will evolve as support and co-operative membership grows," it states.
The market was made public in late April after a citizen heard about the idea and was unhappy with the proposal.
