The Whispers Adult Superstore on Seymour Street was robbed on Sunday (Jan. 20). It's the third robbery in the downtown core in 10 days.

Police say a man entered the adult store, located at 414 Seymour St., at 4:20 p.m.

“The male had his face covered and was brandishing a knife,” says Cpl. Jodi Shelkie in a press release. “He told the clerk working to open the cash register and give him the money inside. Once he had the money, he left the store and proceeded on foot down Seymour Street toward Fifth Avenue.”

The suspect is described as:

  • Close to six feet tall
  • Medium build
  • Believed to be First Nations
  • Was wearing a black hoodie that has a light blue trim on the sleeves, inside the pockets and inside of the hood; a mask that was blue, navy and grey camouflage; and baggy jeans

On Jan. 19, the Moviemart on St. Paul Street was robbed for the second time in nine days.

“So far, the Kamloops RCMP have not linked the robberies to each other,” says Shelkie. “We are very thankful that no one has been physically harmed.”

She adds in each of the robberies, the employees did exactly what they were supposed to do: remain calm, cooperated with the robber and took note of the robber’s appearance.

Anyone with information about the suspect or any of the robberies is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
