After years of using hotel rooms for their training sessions, the Kamloops and District Real Estate Association (KADREA) is officially opening the Hub this month, to provide better training facilities for realtors and local businesses.
Located at the old KADREA office on 418 Paul St., the Hub is aiming to be the "centre of all things real estate in Kamloops."
“(We wanted) our association to be the centre for our members as far as knowing where they can get training, where they can get education and get information,” Wendy Runge, president of KADREA, tells KamloopsMatters.
The idea came about after the association realized that there was a shortage of resources to train more realtors. Previously KADREA was running their training sessions in nearby hotel rooms.
The initiative was born from strategic planning meetings which took place back in September 2018.
“The Hub is going to be a really important thing for two things, one is for our membership, we will have an opportunity to do a lot better training there,” Runge says. “(It’s) also an opportunity for us to reach out to our stakeholders to be able to provide places for meetings to happen or the city to come in and (have) conversations with our members.”
Runge notes that the resources will also be available to institutions like Thompson Rivers University.
“It has the required amount of technology for us to hold webinars and training sessions, to broadcast webinars,” says Antarang Das, communications and technology manager. “It’s like an offering from our realtors to the community.”
The association will be hosting an open house at their 418 Paul St. location on Aug. 21 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
