Kamloops RCMP took to the streets of Lower Sahali this afternoon to catch an armed shoplifter.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. this afternoon (Feb. 14) police responded to a call from a loss prevention officer (LPO) about a man who stole from a local store. When confronted by the LPO, the male suspect allegedly produced a weapon and threatened him.

Officers located a male matching the description of the suspect on West Columbia Street.

When the man was informed of his arrest, he fled on foot, with several officers pursuing him.

Police set up a perimeter around the area and later located him in the backyard of a nearby residence.

The man is known to police and was arrested for theft under $5,000, assault with a weapon and resisting arrest. He'll appear before a judge tomorrow.
