The South Okanagan Flames completed their upset of the Kamloops Venom with a 5-4 win last night (July 18) in Oliver to secure their first-ever Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League (TOJLL) championship.

A low-scoring affair, the Flames broke a 4-4 tie with just 32 seconds left to clinch the title in Game 4 of the best-of-five series.

The Venom finished the regular season 11 points clear of the second-place Flames. But South Okanagan took advantage of Kamloops' long layoff between the conclusion of the regular season and the start of the finals, racing out to a 2-0 series lead with 16-15 and 12-9 wins in Game 1 and 2.

Kamloops staved off elimination at home, but couldn't rally to force a decisive Game 5.
