Norovirus outbreak at Royal Inland Hospital strikes back

Two new cases of Norovirus have been reported at Royal Inland Hospital, according to Interior Health.

Spokesperson Brad Buie says the people with symptoms are patients in 5North.

Earlier today (Feb. 11), the health authority declared the gastrointestinal illness outbreak at the hospital over

"This is unfolding," Buie says of the current situation. "I would say the outbreak is not over." 

He adds an outbreak is declared over when 96 hours have passed since the last reported case.

5North was one of five wards at the hospital impacted by the outbreak. The outbreak in 5North ended on Feb. 6. 

A gastrointestinal illness was also reported at the Hillside Psychiatric Centre and at least two residential care homes in Kamloops.
