PHOTOS: Cosplay, sword play and KamCon take over TRU's Grand Hall

There are more than a few fans of Dungeons and Dragons in Kamloops.

An estimated 300 people showed up to TRU's Grand Hall on Saturday, Oct. 27, with 150 on Sunday, Oct. 28 (most were returning, but some new). Co-organizer Tyler Carpentier originally figured 100 would be a good turnout, and 200 would be huge.

"It's exceeded expectations," he says.

Attendees came from throughout the region, while speakers came from further, like author Douglas Lloyd from Vancouver. Matthew Gauvin, who dressed as Caleb Widogast from Critical Role, a web series featuring famous voice actors, came for Kelowna.

Local Shelby Toews, who was working as an exhibitor with VR gaming outfit All Around Gamer, says she was happy to see something in the area, instead of having to travel to Vancouver.

Carpentier expects to run a second convention next year, around the same time.
