Kamloops Mounties are investigating another downtown robbery — this time at the McCleaners on Seymour Street.

Police say a man robbed the laundromat at 11:30 a.m. this morning (Jan. 28).

The suspect entered the store and brandished a knife and a hammer, according to Cpl. Jodi Shelkie.

"He went to the cash register and took money that was inside and then left on foot," she says in a press release.

The clerk was not injured.

The suspect is described as:

  • 5’10” tall
  • Caucasian or First Nations
  • He was wearing a grey hoodie with stripes on the lower sleeves, jeans and black runners

Police don't have a photo of the suspect at this time.

"Hopefully, one will be available by this afternoon," says Shelkie.

Police are also investigating a robbery at the Whispers Adult Superstore and two robberies at the Moviemart.

"At this time, we don't have any evidence linking these robberies," Shelkie says of all four thefts.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Kamloops RCMP detachment at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. The McCleaners is located at 437 Seymour St.
