Kamloops Mounties are asking parents to have a chat with their kids after a “suspicious" encounter Monday night.

Two 11-year-old boys were riding their bikes on Parkcrest Avenue when a man on a bike approached them and asked if they wanted to go for a ride. The pair quickly rode away and contacted a guardian who then called police, according to a press release.

Kamloops RCMP can’t say if the incident is suspicious or not but police advise parents to talk to their children about potentially dangerous situations and what they should do.

“In this situation, the boys did exactly what they should have,” Cpl. Jodi Shelkie said in the release. “They recognized that this was suspicious, then rode away from the man and contacted an adult.”

The man is described as Caucasian, around 30 years old, and bald. He was wearing a brown ball cap, a blue T-shirt and tan/brown shorts. He was riding a brown and grey mountain bike.
