Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Shuswap, North and South Thompson regions this afternoon (June 13).
"Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain," says an alert from the weather authority.
The thunderstorms are forecast to develop in the afternoon and continue into the evening.
A thunderstorm watch is issued when conditions could potentially produce large hail, damaging winds or torrential rainfall.Lightning in the Cariboo Fire Centre already led to a number of new wildfires being reported over the last day.
