The South Kamloops Titans defended their title in the B.C. Secondary Schools Girls AA Basketball Championship this afternoon, knocking off the G.W. Graham Grizzlies in a rematch from last year.
But while the 2018 final was a tight 73-67 overtime affair, this year the Titans pulled it out in convincing fashion, winning 70-43.
Yesterday, South Kamloops beat in a nailbiter semifinal St. Thomas Aquinas 62-58. They also topped Seycove 76-59 and David Thompson 90-26 on their way to their second straight championship.
Throughout the tournament, the offence was led by Maddy Gobeil, who racked up 90 points through the first three games. Olivia Morgan-Cherchas had 44 points and Kendra McDonald had 38.
Other members of the team are Kendra Kaczur, Anika Komarniski, Pyper Ansley, Fiona Brisco, Jenna Dandurand and Sadie Moyer.
South Kamloops wasn't the only local senior girls team to qualify for the tournament. Earlier today, Westsyde Secondary defeated David Thompson to finish 15th place.
