Thomas skates to trio of personal bests at Long Track Championships

Local Cameron Thomas continues to improve as the speed skating season wears on, notching three personal bests at the Canadian Junior Long Track Championships in Calgary this weekend.

Thomas, of the Kamloops Long Blades, finished 30th overall and fourth in his age category.

His personal bests included a time of 41.60 in the 500m, 1:21.79 in the 1000m and 8:47.15 in the 5000m.

He also skated to a time of 2:07.92 in the 1500m.

The next event for members of the Kamloops Long Blades will be the BC Long Track Championships in Fort St. John Jan. 25 to 26.
