UPDATE: Williams Lake RCMP appeal for dashcam footage to aid homicide investigation

Williams Lake RCMP are asking for the public's help in their investigation of a homicide that took place earlier this morning. 

In a second press release sent out today, police asked the public for any dashcam video they might have collected along Mackenzie Avenue, specifically, between 8 p.m. yesterday (Aug. 5) and 2 a.m. today (Aug. 6).

"The homicide, which occurred on Mackenzie Avenue, is known to have a volume of traffic," says Insp. Jeff Pelley, officer in charge of the Williams Lake Detachment, in the release. "We are hoping that someone driving in that area may have dashcam footage that may assist in our active investigation."

1:45 p.m.

Mounties in Williams Lake are investigating an early morning homicide.

According to a news release, RCMP were called to the 1100-block of Mackenzie Avenue at 12:47 a.m. on Aug. 6 for a report of shots fired. 

When police got there, they found an injured male in the driveway of a home. The 43-year-old was taken to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

"Williams Lake General Investigation Section with support from North District Major Crime Unit are actively investigating this priority offence," says Cpl. Madonna Saunderson in the release.
