The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack finished first in the Canadian Collegiate Baseball Conference (CCBC) after a 6-4 win over the University of Fraser Valley Cascades in the final game of the regular season yesterday (May 6).

The hosts for the CCBC Championship, which starts this Thursday (May 9), the WolfPack earned an easier path to the finals thanks to another strong outing from Tyler Moskalyk.

TRU's pitcher threw a complete game against UFV, allowing four earned runs, walking two batters and striking out eight. In nine starts this season, Moskalyk threw at least nine innings in six of them. He also led the conference in wins (7) and strikeouts (80).

At the plate, Liam Shibata had two hits including a triple and drove in three runs for the WolfPack.

Adam Filmon also went 3-for-5 at the plate. For the season, he led TRU in batting average, hitting .352 per cent.

The WolfPack finished the year at 21-7 and will now welcome the rest of the league to Kamloops as they try and win their first CCBC Championship since 2009.

TRU's first game will come May 9 at 7 p.m. at Norbrock Stadium against the winner of Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs and Edmonton Collegiate.
