For a moment, it looked like there would be a storybook ending to Corryn Brown's university curling career.
But after Thompson Rivers University raced out to a 2-0 lead after three ends, the University of Alberta Pandas came storming back, eventually triumphing 6-3 in the USPORTS women’s curling final.
This marks the third time in the last four years the WolfPack have finished runner-up to the Pandas. In 2015 and 2016, Kelsey Rocque was leading Alberta's rink; this time around, it was Kristen Streifel skipping the team to victory.
Brown skipped the team to all three silver medals, and teammates Samantha Fisher and Erin Pincott joined her in the hardware hat trick. This is the first USPORTS medal for the WolfPack's second Dezaray Hawes.
Alberta will now represent Canada for women's curling at next year's Universiade Games in Russia.
